Hi, I'm Eliza and I'm one of your new Coastal Ward Councillors

I ran because I am passionate about fostering healthy, connected communities. I grew up in a strong connected rural community. During the decade I have lived in the Coastal Ward with my family, I have had a lot of engagement with our local government, and I have seen why local government matters. I have seen its impact on our community – both positive and negative. Everyone needs healthy, connected communities and leafy, liveable places. We need high functioning, open and straightforward local government to support this.

I will be working constructively and independently towards a council that can concentrate on getting things done – even hard things. One that prioritises respect, engagement, responsibility, transparency, good governance and long-term planning and budgeting. I am committed to inclusive listening, and to looking for pragmatic, forward looking solutions that put the long-term interests of our community first.

Local communities matter – local government matters

And the counting is done...

Polling day was Saturday 28 March 2026, and the very efficient count was completed on the night.  A huge thank you to all the candidates for showing up for your community.  It was a strong field, with a lot of good candidates, and everyone of them deserves our thanks.  Thank you also to the people who supported them, and most importantly - voted.  Your council is better for it.

Thank you also to the WA Electoral Commission, and our returning officer for conducting such a fast and well organised count.

Your new Mayor and Council

Congratulations to the successful candidates!

Leonie Browner is our new Mayor.  Congratulations Leonie!  Leonie has great skills and a collaborative attitude and I am confident she is the right person for what is a challenging job.  She is supported by a strong and diverse group of Councillors.

This is going to take all of us - time to get to work

We are looking forward to getting to work on the serious business of restoring trust, looking for solutions, and working with and for our communities.  It's a big job, and it's going to take all of us.

The first Ordinary Council Meeting of the new Council is Wednesday 22 April - 6-8pm.  More details to come.

Coastal Catchups.  Stephen and I will be looking at different ways to keep our communities connected. More details to come.  In the meantime - I would love to hear from you.

Coastal Ward has two Councillors.

My fellow Coastal Ward Councillor is Stephen Kobelke. Stephen and I are really looking forward to working with you to make a positive difference for our communities.

We bring different backgrounds and strengths.  Together we have the skills to ask the right questions and to scrutinise decisions.  We share a belief in transparency and genuine community representation and are committed to working respectfully and collaboratively with each other, the City and our community.
